Presentation at the Jamaica Employer’s Federation Convention

The countdown is on to the beginning of the JEF Convention 2011.  It’s the biggest conference of it’s kind in the English-speaking Caribbean and I’ll be making a presentation on Saturday, May 7th on the topic of Smartphone Productivity.

We recently conducted an interview with Wayne Chen – JEF President – on the conference and also the future plans for the organization. You can access the interview at http://radio.caribhrforum.com

Also, the program for the entire JEF Convention can be found by clicking this link.

Conference Presentations

I had some good news recently — a paper I wrote was accepted by the annual conference at the Institute of Industrial Engineers in Reno Nevada.

I’ll finalize the exact topic soon to reflect the latest research but you might have guessed that it has something to do with time management and the ways that we are all using the latest gadgets in ineffective ways.

Also, I’ll be presenting at the Jamaica Employer’s Federation Conference, here in Kingston.  The topic is likely to be the same — a dry run of sorts for the IIE presentation.

Both of these events will take place in May 2011.

CaribHR.Radio Launched

I recently conducted the first test broadcast of a new project I started: CaribHR.Radio

It seemed to go well, and got some nice feedback, and I plan to go into “full production” with shows every two weeks during Tuesday lunchtimes.

Fortunately, each show is recorded after its broadcast on the internet, and you can listen in at the following URL to the episode from October 5th, and sign up to be notified for the next show on October 19th.  (Listener space is a bit limited.)  Click here to be taken to CaribHR.Radio – http://radio.caribhrforum.com

Why Jamaicans Need to Follow Trini Politics

A snap election has been called in Trinidad, and Jamaicans are not paying attention to what is happening.

Read my two articles that appeared today and learn why Jamaican business-people need to pay very close attention to the latest political developments in the twin-island republic.

Here is my letter to the editor of the Jamaica Gleaner that was awarded “Letter of the Day.”

New Radio Program

bess fmGood news!  I now have the pleasure of co-hosting a fairly new radio program here in Jamaica, on BESS FM – 100.1.

It’s a business program, and I got off the mark on February 1st with a focus on the topic of the acquisition of Air Jamaica by Caribbean Airlines.

I’ll be working for a while with Aldo Owen, who is working alongside me while I develop some of the skills needed to be a good radio host.

Anyone can tune in to the show at http://bessfm.com and hear it from 5pm-7pm when it’s live on the air and internet.  Both the audio and video of the control booth are on the site, and now and then we interact with our listeners via the chat room.

Before I came on the station, I did do a few guest appearances.  Here is an 11 minute recording of a radio interview I did in late 2009 on the topic of corporate culture.

The New Networking is Retiring

I recently decided to close out my ebook The New Networking: Caribbean 2008 at the end of the year, in order to make way for some new ideas and a new e-book at some point.

While I don’t plan to write its successor anytime soon, I recall discovering Facebook just as the ebook was about to be released, and having to “wheel and come again” with a section devoted to that social networking tool. Of course, today Facebook has been supplemented with Twitter… how things change!

Here is the link to the ebook if you don’t have it.  Please pass this information on to your friends also — this will be their last chance to receive the ebook from me: The New Networking: Caribbean 2008 http://fwconsulting.com/newnetworking
